Frog Cycle Path - paradise not only for frogs
Dune forests, wet meadows, moors — the entire Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape is a paradise for frogs. And also for anyone interested in rare plant and animal species.
They are so unique that UNESCO has placed the biosphere reserve under its protection. Designed as a circular route, the cycle path runs through a sparsely populated area where the language and customs of the Sorbs are still very much alive.
In the northern part begins the Lusatian Lake District, to the east lies Bad Muskau with its also UNESCO-protected park on the route, and between them hides the splendor of the rhododendron park in Kromlau — a striking contrast of wild and shaped nature.
Directions
If you cycle the route clockwise and choose Hoyerswerda as the starting point, the Frog Cycle Path first leads through the Lusatian Lake District, then northeast through Schleife further to Bad Muskau. From here, the route leads south via Rothenburg and Niesky and from there into the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape. Through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape, the path leads west through the carp pond region, the Sorbian settlement area, and the KRABAT region with the KRABAT town of Wittichenau. Just a few kilometers further north, you will have reached the starting point in Hoyerswerda again.

Safety notice
One-way street regulations on site and the signage must be observed!
The route partly also runs over forest paths with loose but well-drivable gravel. A spare tube and tools should be carried in case of a breakdown.
In case of storm or heavy snowfall, forests should not be ridden due to the danger of branch breakage.
