Sea eagle circular route - puć kosćełamaka

The sea eagle circular route is a cycling route with a length of about 88 kilometers. It has no significant climbs and is ideally suitable for trekking or mountain bikes. The cycle path runs on unpaved farm, sand and forest paths, but also on paved cycle and hiking trails as well as roads. The ride can be started at any point of the sea eagle circular route. However, the recommended start is at the visitor information center HAUS DER TAUSEND TEICHE in Wartha. At the 13 stations, there are not only rest areas but also interesting information boards about the nature and culture of the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape. Here, in particular, the sea eagle, its habitat requirements, way of life, hazards and suitable protective measures are presented. In the municipalities in the biosphere reserve there are various places to eat and sights such as local history museums, nature and art monuments or farm shops.
Directions
We suggest 2 stages:
Stage proposal 1 (counterclockwise): Wartha - Förstgen - Kreba-Neudorf - Uhyst (approx. 45 km)
The route starts at the HAUS DER TAUSEND TEICHE in Wartha and leads from there along the Olbasee to Kleinsaubernitz. After Dubrauke, you travel along a state road, then you can enjoy nature. Up to Förstgen, the route extends through the Weigersdorfer Höhe woodland and the Weigersdorfer pond group. Upon reaching Förstgen, a detour to the local bakery, which produces many delicacies from regionally grown ancient grain varieties, is worthwhile. At the end of Förstgen, you reach the Tauerwiesenteich, which invites birdwatching. Through the Neudorfer Heide, you ride to Kreba-Neudorf. Here, a detour to the family-friendly nature trail is worthwhile. Upon reaching Hammerteich, the path leads through the Kreba pond group and the Dürrbacher Heide to the largest lake in Saxony, the Bärwalder See, a former open-cast mine pit. There, visitors can swim, fish, sail or surf.
TIP: From Uhyst, you can return to Wartha via the Spreeradweg. The total route length is about 58 km.
Stage proposal 2 (clockwise): Uhyst - Friedersdorf - Milkel - Spreewiese - Wartha (approx. 43 km)
The second route begins at the Bärwalder See in Uhyst. Along the Mönau pond group and the Driewitzer Heide, you reach Driewitz. Here you have the opportunity to rest, as the approx. 6 km long section in the heath is challenging. The path continues on district roads and paved forest and field paths via Friedersdorf, Weißig and Wessel to Milkel. Here a detour to the local baker and to Milkel Castle, a baroque country castle with an English landscape park, is worthwhile. For a short distance, it goes to the Göbelner Heide. In August, a sea of a thousand purple blooms shines here with the heather blossom, giving the area a very special charm! Along the district road and past Spreewiese Castle, you reach Wartha and the HAUS DER TAUSEND TEICHE. Here, the permanent exhibition in the house or the adjoining nature experience trail "Guttauer Teiche und Olbasee" can be visited.
Recommended equipment

Safety notice
There are many natural paths on the circular route, which are mostly good and easy to ride. Depending on the weather or along the ponds, however, the paths may be wet and the ground possibly softened. On the roads, there is to be expected more or less car traffic. For city bikes and e-bikes, the route is only suitable in parts.
